180 Degree Rule

180 Degree rule means, in continuity editing, the imaginary line that passes from side to side through the main characters, defining the spatial relations of the scene. The camera is not supposed to cross the axis at a cut and reverse the spatial relations. Ensures constant screen space and constant screen direction.

In Short – The Spacial relationship between a character and another character or object within a scene.
