Cutting on action

Cutting on action also known as matching on action which means – in film editing technique where the editor cuts from one shot to another shot where the view of second shot matches the first shot action, which gives an impression of continuous time or motion while watching the edited film.

Example:

A boy running from left to right of the frame and in film editing, first well be wide or long shot (establishment shot) and the next cut will be different magnification of the first shot like – mid closeup or closeup of his head, legs, the action will be same boy running from left to right, but the view angle will be changed.
